FAQ — Automated Implant Planning with the Blue Sky Plan Automatic Implant Wizard

1. How much time will the Automatic Implant Wizard actually save my practice?

Manual planning is the ultimate bottleneck to scaling your implant production. The Automatic Implant Wizard eliminates this friction by instantly automating the implant placement and surgical guide design. By reducing a multi-step manual process into a highly streamlined workflow, you buy back hours of high-value clinical time every single week.

2. Does "automated" mean I lose control over the final clinical plan?

Absolutely not. Automation does the heavy lifting, but you remain the master architect. The wizard automatically positions the virtual crown and implant based on your chosen drill kit. However, you retain full authority to grab and drag the implant, adjust the rotation, and fine-tune the trajectory before moving forward.

3. Will this workflow handle cases requiring immediate extractions?

Yes. You do not need to pause your workflow or jump to complex external tools. You can enable the “Extract Tooth” feature directly within the Wizard to virtually extract a tooth from the arch. The system automatically executes local bone and adjacent teeth segmentation so you can plan the immediate placement flawlessly.

4. Am I locked into using a specific implant brand or drill kit?

No. A scalable system must be adaptable to your clinical preferences. In the initial Workflow Settings, you can download data packages to select your preferred Implant Company, Drill Kit, and specific Implant System. The AI then precisely places the implant and generates the guide tube according to the exact parameters of your selected kit.

5. How does the software ensure clinical safety and accuracy during automated placement?

Safety is built into the background. The Wizard automatically executes nerve detection for both the right and left foramens as soon as the data is loaded. As you or the AI places implants, the software constantly runs validation checks, triggering an instant warning icon if an implant violates minimum distance rules to the nerve or adjacent implants.

Of course every treatment plan should be carefully reviewed and approved by the clinician.

6. Does the Wizard also automate the design of the surgical guide?

Yes. After you approve the implant position, the software automatically draws the guide curve around the area of interest. It automatically removes undercuts to ensure a smooth insertion path and can even generate built-in inspection windows and drill stops.

7. Can I delegate this planning workflow to my team?

Yes, and you absolutely should. The beauty of a systemized, automated workflow is delegation. Your staff can import the DICOM and STL files, select the drill kit, and let the software run the automated CT-to-model alignment and initial setup. You simply step in at the end for the high-level clinical review and final approval.

8. What if the automated CT-to-model alignment isn't perfect for a complex scan?

You are never stuck. If the automated alignment requires adjustment, the Wizard allows you to instantly seamlessly switch to manual alignment. You can place corresponding points on the CT scan and optical model to force a precise, point-based match.

9. Is there a massive upfront cost or monthly subscription for this AI feature?

Blue Sky Bio operates on an ROI-positive, pay-as-you-scale model. There are no restrictive software subscriptions. You only utilize an export credit when you are completely satisfied with the plan and ready to export the final STL file for printing.

10. What if my practice doesn't have an in-house 3D printer yet?

You don't need to own hardware to scale your guided surgeries. At the end of the Wizard workflow, you can simply select the option to send the project directly to LabPronto. A top-tier, verified lab will manufacture your fully designed surgical guide and ship it directly to your clinic.
