16.3 Automatic Jaw Segmentation

Automatic Jaw Segmentation is available for the user in the Segmentation method section. Simply click on the option (1) and choose between the mandible or maxilla or both jaws (2). Teeth and jaw will be separated into individual models if selected (3). Start the segmentation by clicking the "Start Automatic Segmentation". It might take a few minutes. If "Airways" is selected, Airways segmentation will also occur (see chapter 16.4).

Click on the "Create surface and continue" button (7) for surface creation. It is possible to go back and use the segmentation tools again. In this case, click on the "Previous" button (8). "Start New Segmentation" (9) starts new segmentation for the jaw.

Teeth and jaw models before merging in Blue Sky Plan

The user is able to show or hide CT teeth from the 3D scene in the STL Surfaces table (10). The same option applies to segmented implants (11). If a new jaw bone segmentation starts, previous models from STL Surfaces will be hidden. Models have to be removed manually from the STL table.
