15.1 Inserting crowns

Blue Sky Plan® makes it possible to insert "virtual" teeth into the project. Using automatically generated crowns or pre-prepared crowns from catalogs, we can show the patient the possible result after all the planned procedures have been performed. Virtual teeth also make it possible to align either a new or an existing implant and thus easily visually inspect the respective position of the resulting crown with respect to the position of the implant and to plan any abutment. It is highly recommended to specify the dental curve, since the inserted crown will be rotated automatically with respect to it. The individual crowns are inserted either by clicking on the icon in the main toolbar or by using the button in the "Tooth List" side panel, or, if necessary, by choosing the "Virtual Teeth > Add Tooth" menu item. A dialog for selecting a crown will open. Firstly, the user can choose between two types of crowns: automatically generated crowns and predefined crowns from catalogs. Note that automatically generated crowns are available only in the Surgical Guide module. For the automatic creation of a crown, select the "Automatically create AI tooth" tab (1). Then choose the associated tooth from the preview (3) - the text description of the crown appears in (4). Implants can also be placed together with the new teeth (5). For more information about placing implants, see chapter 8. Confirm the selection by clicking the "OK" button (6) (the "Cancel" button closes the dialog without making a selection (7)). Then the user can place the crown on the associated spot and the crown is automatically generated. The dimensions and location of the tooth can be subsequently modified directly in the sequence.

For a predefined crown from the catalog, select the "Select tooth from catalog" tab (2). Compared to automatic creation of the crown, there are a few differences in the dialog. From the dropdown menu, it is possible to select the teeth from a specific teeth geometry set (8). In the preview, it's possible to select additional teeth by pressing and holding the Shift or Ctrl key (9). The size of the teeth can be adjusted as well (10). A tooth can be aligned to an already existing implant (11), or the teeth's position can be adjusted on the basis of the panoramic curve height (12).
